Log In with Google or Discord, and Link Accounts

How do you log in to Moonetix with Google or Discord?

Open the login page and click Google or Discord above the email form, then pick your account on the Google or Discord screen. To link, change, or unlink them, open Account in the sidebar and use the Google account and Discord account rows in the Sign-in & security card. You can use both, plus a password, but you must always keep at least one.

What happens when you click Google or Discord

Both buttons use OAuth, the standard described in IETF RFC 6749: Google or Discord confirms who you are and tells Moonetix, without Moonetix ever seeing your Google or Discord password. Moonetix asks for as little as possible.

Log in with Google or Discord

1. Open the login page: moonetix.com/login.
2. Want to stay logged in? Tick Keep me logged in for 30 days first. It works for these buttons too.
3. Click Google or Discord above the email form (below them it says “or use your email”).
4. Choose your account on the Google or Discord screen and allow access. Google shows its account chooser each time, so you can pick the right one if you have several.
5. You land on your Dashboard. If login verification is on and this device is not trusted, you enter an email code first.

If you do not have a Moonetix account yet

The login page says: “Continuing with Google or Discord creates an account if you do not have one yet, and you agree to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.” Your new account is ready at once with an email that is already verified, and your referral link works right away. If you already have an account with that email

• Google or Discord is already linked: you are simply logged in.
• Not linked yet: you see “A Moonetix account with this email already exists. Log in with your usual sign-in method, then link Google in Account settings.” (or Discord). Moonetix never links an account silently just because the email matches, so an unlink you made stays in force.
• You started an email sign-up but never entered the code: Google or Discord finishes the sign-up and verifies your email. The account then has no password until you set one.

Step by step: link Google or Discord

1. Click Account in the sidebar, under the Account heading.
2. Click Sign-in & security in the section menu, or scroll to that card. Find the Google account or Discord account row. An unlinked account shows a gray Not linked badge.
3. Click Link Google account or Link Discord account.
4. Pick the account on the Google or Discord screen. You come back to the Account page with a message like “Google account … is now linked.”

The row now shows the linked Google email or Discord name with a green Linked badge, and the account summary at the top of the page lists it under Signs in with. The linked account does not have to use the same email as your Moonetix account, and linking does not change your Moonetix email. If your session ended while you were on the Google screen, you see “Please log in again to link a Google account.”

Change the linked account

Click Link a different account in the same row and pick the other Google or Discord account. It replaces the one that was linked before. The old one can no longer log in to Moonetix.

Unlink, and the one-login rule

1. Click Unlink in the Google account or Discord account row.
2. A window asks you to confirm: “Unlink this Google account? You can still log in with your other sign-in method.” or “Unlink this Discord account? You will not be able to log in with Discord anymore.” Confirm, or Cancel to stop.
3. You see “Google account unlinked.” or “Discord account unlinked.”

You must always keep at least one way to log in: a password, Google, or Discord. If the account you want to unlink is your only one, the Unlink button is gray, and hovering it shows “Set a password or link Discord first, so you can still log in after unlinking.” (or “link Google first”). Add a password first with How to change or set your password, then unlink.

Unlinking only affects Moonetix. To also remove Moonetix from your Google Account, follow Google’s page Manage links between your Google Account and apps from other developers and choose Stop using Sign in with Google. Google notes that removing the link there does not delete your data in the app, so unlink on Moonetix as well.

Password, Google or Discord: which should you keep?

A social login is only as safe as the Google or Discord account behind it. If someone takes over that account, they can log in to Moonetix too. Keep at least two sign-in methods so you are never locked out, and protect each one with multi-factor authentication. Turning on Moonetix’s Login verification adds an email code on new devices for every method, including Google and Discord.

On a phone

On the login page, the Google and Discord buttons sit at the top, the same as on a computer. To link or unlink, tap More in the bar at the bottom of the screen, then Account, and scroll to Sign-in & security.

If something goes wrong

• “This Google account is already linked to another Moonetix account.” Each Google or Discord account can be linked to one Moonetix account. Unlink it there first, or pick another one.
• “A Moonetix account with this email already exists.” Log in with your usual sign-in method, then link Google or Discord in Account settings.
• “This email is already connected to a different Google account.” Your Moonetix account is linked to another Google account. Use that one, or log in with your password and change the link.
• “Your Discord account needs a verified email address. Verify it in Discord, then try again.” Verify your email in Discord’s settings, then click the button again.
• “Google sign-in was canceled.” or “Discord sign-in was canceled.” You closed or declined the screen. Simply try again.
• “Discord sign-in did not complete. Please try again.” The handover from Discord failed. Click the button again in a moment.

Every link and unlink also appears in your notifications under the bell icon, so you can spot a change you did not make. If you see one, follow What to do if your Moonetix account is compromised.
