Key takeaways

  • Adsterra sells popunder, Social Bar, native, banner and Smartlink formats with no traffic minimum, and pays twice a month with method minimums from $5.
  • The closest alternatives (Monetag, HilltopAds) sell the same formats; moving to AdSense, Media.net or Ezoic means dropping popunders and meeting stricter entry rules.
  • If your users log in, a pay-per-result offerwall can earn from them without more ad units, while guests keep seeing your existing ads.

What are the best Adsterra alternatives?

For publishers who want the same kind of formats, the closest Adsterra alternatives are Monetag and HilltopAds, which also sell popunder, in-page push and banner ads without a strict traffic minimum. For content sites ready to move to standard display ads, Google AdSense, Media.net and, for large sites, Ezoic are the usual next step. For sites, apps and communities with logged-in users, a pay-per-result offerwall can add a second income stream. Advertisers who buy on Adsterra can compare other self-serve networks or pay-per-conversion deals.

This guide starts with what Adsterra actually offers, so you can see which part you want to replace. All network facts come from each company’s own pages, checked on November 4, 2026. For the user-experience and policy side of popunder and push formats, see PropellerAds alternatives, which covers that in depth.

Who uses Adsterra, and why they look elsewhere

Adsterra’s publisher page lists five formats:

  • Popunder: full-page ads that open in a new browser tab or window.
  • Social Bar: its own format, which it also calls In-Page Push or Interstitials.
  • Native Banners: ads styled like editorial content.
  • Banners: classic display units.
  • Smartlink: a link you attach to text, buttons or images, which the page says can also be used without a website.

Its FAQ says there are no traffic or other limits to start, and it describes an eCPM model that takes into account views, clicks and conversions. That open door is why Adsterra is common on download sites, streaming and link pages, tool sites and social traffic sent to a Smartlink: properties that premium display networks often reject.

Publishers usually start looking for an alternative for one of four reasons: they want to remove popunders to apply for AdSense, visitors complain about the formats, the payout method or threshold does not suit them, or earnings dropped on their traffic mix. Each reason points to a different alternative.

Adsterra’s payout rules in one table

Adsterra’s help center article on receiving and tracking payouts sets out the rules you will compare alternatives against (checked on November 4, 2026):

MethodMinimumFee listed
Paxum$5$1
WebMoney$51% (WMZ), 2% (WMT)
PayPal (Hyperwallet)$25$0.65
Local bank transfer (Hyperwallet)$25$7 plus exchange rate
Tether or Bitcoin$1001% plus network fee; not in the EU or EEA
Wire transfer$1,000$50 (USD), $0 (EUR)

Payouts run twice a month, on the 1st to 2nd and the 16th to 17th, after a two-week hold once you reach the minimum. Wire and local bank transfer need identity verification. Low minimums matter most to small sites: a site that earns $30 a month reaches $5 in days but would wait years for a $1,000 wire.

If you want the same formats: Monetag and HilltopAds

Monetag is the publisher platform of Propeller Ads Ltd (the PropellerAds publisher page redirects to it). Its homepage says it has no strict minimum traffic, no minimum pageviews and no niche restrictions, and its FAQ lists minimums of $5 for PayPal, Skrill and Webmoney, $20 or $30 for Payoneer depending on country, $100 for crypto and $500 for wire. The homepage mentions weekly payouts while the FAQ says payments are biweekly, so check the schedule in your account. It also offers in-app and Telegram Mini App monetization.

HilltopAds lists a $20 minimum and payouts every Tuesday on Net7, which is faster than a twice-monthly cycle with a two-week hold. Its format list adds Video VAST (a preroll before your own video) and a Video Slider in the corner of the page.

Moving between these networks changes the dashboard, the payout rules and the advertiser demand. It does not change what your visitors experience. If complaints or search traffic are your problem, look at the next group instead.

If you want cleaner ads: AdSense, Media.net and Ezoic

Standard display networks pay per view or click on ads that sit in the page. They have stricter rules:

  • AdSense needs an owner aged 18 or older (or a parent or guardian account) and original, high-quality content, per Google’s eligibility requirements. Its ad placement policies also say Google ads may not run on sites that contain or trigger pop-unders, so you must remove Adsterra’s Popunder before applying. If you were turned down, see why AdSense did not approve your site.
  • Media.net describes display, native and video demand and a managed header bidding product built on Prebid on its publisher page. It does not list entry rules there, so ask.
  • Ezoic’s requirements article says new sites generally need 250,000 or more monthly active users, for sites added after February 19, 2026. See Ezoic alternatives if you are below that.

A clean switch can earn less at first, especially on traffic from lower-paying countries. Highest CPM countries shows why your traffic mix matters, and Best ad networks for publishers lists more networks.

Do not run both while you apply

Google’s rule covers sites that contain or trigger pop-unders, not single pages. Remove popunder scripts from every page, including old posts and download pages, before you submit an AdSense application.

If your users log in: add an offerwall

Adsterra’s formats earn from every visitor, including people who leave after one page. If a good share of your audience has accounts, such as members of a forum, players of a web game or users of a rewards site, you can earn from them in a way they choose. An offerwall lists offers (install and play a game, sign up for a service, answer a survey), the user completes one and receives your points or currency, and you earn per completed offer.

Moonetix is a pay-per-result affiliate network for exactly this: publishers add the Moonetix offerwall to their site, app, game or community, and users earn the publisher’s own currency. To be clear about fit: it does not replace display ads on a site whose visitors are anonymous one-time readers, because there is no account to credit. Users on VPNs, proxies, Tor and data center networks are blocked from the wall, and users must be 16 or older. Most sites keep their existing ads for guests and add the wall for members. Offerwall vs affiliate links compares it with the Smartlink-style model.

Illustrative example: a browser game with 2,000 monthly players

A web game earns from a Social Bar on its landing page. It adds an earn page where logged-in players get gems. If 500 players open the wall, 12% complete an offer and the average earning is $0.90, the wall adds $54 in that month on top of the landing page ads. Sample figures only; the offerwall earnings calculator runs your own numbers.

Adsterra alternatives for advertisers

On the buying side, Adsterra’s advertiser page describes the Adsterra Self-Serve Platform with CPM, CPC and CPA pricing depending on the format, deposits from $100, and minimum campaign budgets of $25 for CPM and CPC. If you want a similar self-serve setup, HilltopAds says its minimum deposit is $100, and PropellerAds sells popunder, push and in-page push traffic from propellerads.com.

If you would rather pay only for confirmed results, Moonetix works with advertisers through custom integrations by arrangement: you agree the offer, the payout per conversion, the countries and the tracking with the team, and pay only for conversions your server-to-server postback confirms, never for impressions or clicks. Traffic is rewarded: real users of publishers’ sites, apps and communities earn the publisher’s currency for completing your offer. Read how to advertise on offerwalls and how Moonetix works first.

How to add Moonetix to your site or app

For publishers whose users have accounts, the setup is four steps.

  1. Apply as a publisher at moonetix.com. Every application is reviewed by hand, and once you are approved, apps you add are live right away.
  2. Add your site or app in the dashboard and set the currency name, icon, conversion rate and wall design.
  3. Choose the integration: a signed offerwall link or iframe built on your server (offerwall link docs), a floating Earn button on a website, the Offers API for your own wall, or the Android, iOS, Unity, Flutter or React Native SDK.
  4. Credit users only on your server from the signed postback, then run through Test your app before launch.

A pay-per-result option next to your ads

Moonetix pays per completed offer in a wall your logged-in users open themselves, branded with your currency. See how the wall works or get in touch.

Frequently asked questions

What is Adsterra’s minimum payout?

Adsterra’s help center lists $5 for Paxum and WebMoney, $25 for PayPal and local bank transfer, $100 for Tether or Bitcoin and $1,000 for wire (checked on November 4, 2026). Payouts run twice a month after a two-week hold.

Is Adsterra better than PropellerAds?

Neither is better for every site. They sell similar formats, and PropellerAds’ publisher side now runs as Monetag, so test both on the same pages and compare earnings per thousand page views and payout methods you can receive.

Can I use Adsterra and AdSense on the same site?

Not with Adsterra’s Popunder. Google’s ad placement policies do not allow Google ads on sites that contain or trigger pop-unders. Banners and native units are a separate question, so read both networks’ policies.

Which Adsterra alternative pays weekly?

HilltopAds says it pays every Tuesday on Net7 with a $20 minimum. Monetag’s site mentions weekly payouts on its homepage and biweekly processing in its FAQ, so confirm in your account.

Do Adsterra alternatives accept small sites?

Monetag and Adsterra say they have no strict traffic minimum, and HilltopAds does not state one. Ezoic asks new sites for 250,000 monthly active users, and AdSense reviews content quality rather than a traffic number.

Is an offerwall an alternative to Adsterra?

Only for users who log in. An offerwall pays per completed offer and credits a user account, so it suits rewards sites, games, apps and communities, not anonymous one-time visitors.
