How to use the ARPDAU calculator
Enter the revenue your app or game made over a period, how many days that period covers, and your average daily active users. Add monthly active users if you have them. The calculator shows ARPDAU, revenue per day, revenue per monthly user, and DAU/MAU stickiness.
Count every revenue source together: ads, in-app purchases, subscriptions, and offerwall earnings. ARPDAU is most useful as one number you track every day, so changes to prices, ad placements, or events show up quickly.
The formulas
Revenue per day = revenue / days
ARPDAU = revenue per day / average DAU
Revenue per MAU = revenue / days x 30 / MAU
DAU/MAU stickiness = average DAU / MAU
ARPDAU blends payers and non-payers. To see how much the paying few spend, use ARPPU instead; What is ARPPU? explains the difference.
A worked example
A mobile game earns $12,000 over 30 days with 8,000 daily active users on average. That is $400 a day and an ARPDAU of $0.05. With 40,000 monthly active users, each one brings in $0.30 a month, and stickiness is 20%: an average user plays about one day in five. These figures are illustrative.
How to raise ARPDAU
- Add a second revenue stream. Most players never buy anything. Rewarded ads and an offerwall earn from them without touching payers. Hybrid monetization shows how games combine them.
- Improve stickiness. Users who come back more days see more placements and buy more. DAU/MAU ratio explains what to aim for.
- Watch it next to retention. A short ARPDAU jump that pushes players away costs more over their lifetime. The LTV and CAC calculator shows the long view.
Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate ARPDAU?
Divide daily revenue by daily active users. $400 a day from 8,000 daily users is an ARPDAU of $0.05.
What is the difference between ARPDAU and ARPU?
ARPDAU divides revenue by daily users for one day. ARPU usually divides a longer period’s revenue by the users in that period, such as a month.
Should ARPDAU include offerwall revenue?
Yes. Include every source the app earns from, so the number reflects what an average day of users is worth.
What is a good DAU/MAU ratio?
It depends on the genre. Daily habit apps aim higher than games people open now and then, so compare against your own trend first.
